Our life in Pagosa is full, year-round: winter is no exception.  Snow covered mountains and steam rising off the river are the iconic images in the area. Our little town has great experiences to offer the locals and visitors.  With outdoor activities to explore, arts and entertainment to enjoy and great restaurants to savor, our little mountain town has a lot more to offer than just skiing.

Many people are attracted to the Pagosa area for skiing and snowboarding at Wolf Creek in the winter or year round experiences at the many local hot springs resorts, Pagosa Springs is much more than a ski town.  Cloman Park is one of the local gems in our area with free-access groomed cross-country skiing trails.  Many of our trails that are local favorites in the summer make great paths for snowshoeing.  Multiple venues offer ice skating and our lakes offer ice-fishing.  Snowmobiling, and sledding are other fun ways to fill your time.  While many can strike out on their own to explore these options, there are also tour companies that can show you the best of the area.  And a large investment in equipment isn’t necessary to try out a new activity.  Ski and Bow Rack, and other shops here in town, offer expansive gear rental opportunities as well as great service to get you started in the right direction.

If the outdoor activities aren’t your area of interest, don’t worry.  Pagosa Springs has art galleries, theaters, cinema, live music and more to fill your weekends.  Feeling more hands-on? Try a painting class with one of our local studios or an exercise class at the Community Center or a fly-rod building class with PJ’s Fine Bamboo Rods. Grab a book and spend some time with a hot-drink from one of our many coffee shops.  Linger over lunch or dinner and enjoy great pub fare, Mexican Thai, or Chinese cuisine or fine dining experiences at one of our many wonderful restaurants.   Stay warm and take in our historic downtown or uptown shopping districts.  These all provide great escapes for our residents and guests alike.

Many of our larger events and festivals further accentuate our little mountain town feel.  Downtown comes alive and friendly faces are abundant.  Smiles and conversations with friends new and old highlight any of these events.   In the winter our Skis & Saddles Ski-Joring combined with Winterfest makes for a weekend of fun in January.  The Hot Springs Festival highlights our town namesake with events surrounding our hot spring in November.  Everyone loves the Christmas in Pagosa night in December.
